EA Conference Call Reveals New Titles & Updated Schedule

While EA's financial statement confirmed Battlefield: Bad Company and Mercenaries 2 delays, the subsequent conference call offered a whole lot more information. EA execs revealed Spore is due "before end of the year," while BioWare's RPG Dragon Age is vaguely scheduled for fiscal 2009. The earlier rumored Rock Band Wii (a logo was printed on the recently release Microphone packaging) has been confirmed and is expected in the early summer. A new Lord of the Rings is coming, but whether that is a new title or a revival of the previously canceled White Council was not disclosed.

Sony has rolled out new PlayStation Store content, starting with two new Folklore add-on packs ($3.99 each/$5.99 bundle), Nightmares and Visions of the Tower, both offering 4 side quests, new folk and new costumes. Rock Band is getting three new songs (Siva / Smashing Pumpkins, Working Man / Rush, and Ten Speed (of God’s Blood…) / Coheed and Cambria, for $1.99 each. Eidos' Conflict: Denied Ops demo is now also available, as well as various game/movie trailers, PS3 themes and wallpapers.

EA expects Battlefield: Bad Company and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames to ship in fiscal 2009 (Apr. 1, 2008 - Mar. 31, 2009), confirming the latter's previously revealed delay.

Rumblings and rumors have been persistent for quite a while now, but according to TradingMarkets, an industry insider claims that the first foreign online game for China's leading online game operator, Netease.com, will be Starcraft Online, developed by US-based Blizzard. Netease CEO Ding Lei didn't confirm the rumor, only stating that it is observing many online games and has not signed any formal license contract.
