At the CES Microsoft revealed that it is bringing Brøderbund's classic platform action game Lode Runner to Xbox Live Arcade. Developed by Tozai/Southend Interactive, known for Ubisoft's Deathrow, the idea is to make the remake as faithful to the original as possible, just in a new jacket, and is scheduled for later this year. Whether the much heralded editor will also be included was not revealed.

Sony is taking advantage of the PSP momentum to announce quite a few new features for its handheld. Over the weekend the Skype support was made official and earlier today Sony confirmed at the CES that it would also be bringing the, previously only in Asia available, GPS and Camera functionality to North America, as well as an external keyboard to make it easier for people to communicate and bypass the internal keypad. Expected later this year, no pricing or specific release schedule was announced.

MotorStorm delivers brutal off-road racing, plunging players into a frenzied and chaotic environment awash with grit, mud and petrol. Sony revealed that later this month two new tracks will hit the PSN, Eagle's Nest (a narrow winging road on high altitude, where the goal is to push other drivers off the edge), and Diamondback Speedway (a desert road with a tunnel and pit in the road, best to be avoided) for the usual price.

LEGO Batman features all of the characters from the LEGO Batman construction sets, plus a few new additions. Gamers will have the ability to roam the streets of LEGO Gotham City as Batman or Robin, and even take control of the villains while manipulating gadgets and building/operating vehicles in co-op gameplay.

In addition to a new campaign that ties up the Dread Lords saga, GalCiv II: Twilight of the Arnor adds civilization-specific technology trees and planetary improvements that add even more flavor to each alien race, while greatly expanding the strategic depth of the game. Originally scheduled for Jan, the GalCiv II expansion has been delayed until March in order to add new features.

Hudson Entertainment announced that it is bringing Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts to North America. Each version of the game will feature a unique story with epic battles, an all new assortment of weapons and many unique fighting styles. Philips today announced an alliance with Ubisoft to amBX-enable Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway and Far Cry 2. The agreement will also see an amBX patch being released for the original Far Cry. According to the
Vancouver Sun Black Box Games co-founder Martin Sikes suddenly passed away on Christmas Eve at the age of 39. After he left the University of British Columbia with a degree in electrical engineering, Sikes went to work for Radical Entertainment. In 1998, Sikes co-founded Black Box Games, which was acquired by EA Canada in 2002. He was a programmer on various titles in the Need for Speed franchise and co-founded United Front Games, although he had recently left the company.
