Battlefield 1943 takes players back to WWII. The game offers endless hours of 24 player multiplayer action over three classic and tropic locations; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.
Last week, an ad on the back cover of German print magazine Games claimed that Battlefield 1943 would be available for download on PSN/XBL on June 25, 2009, but EA informed us that this is a misprint and will not be available at said date, but rather later this summer.

Variety's Chris Morris claims that it might be based on the popular Neverwinter Nights RPG series, originally released in 2002 (Bioware) with a sequel in 2006 (Obsidian). In the past, Atari revealed that it would revive some of its old franchises, which would certainly fit with this rumor.

"Heroes" actor Masi Oka, known as Hiro on the TV series, is working on a new MMORPG called The Defenders, according to the
Hollywood Reporter, which also reveals that Dreamworks has signed on to make the IP into a new feature film. The Defenders centers on a group of teenagers playing in a multiplayer video game, forced to come together for a real adventure and becoming inadvertent heroes in the process. The movie will be produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. D.J. Caruso, known for The Goonies and Transformers, is in talks to direct the flick.
