'Encore' Publisher Enters Europe

by Rainier on Oct. 30, 2001 @ 3:19 p.m. PST

Encore Software, the largest privately-owned education/entertainment software publisher in the US, has today announced its entry into the UK and European markets with the appointment of Jim Mackonochie as its European Representative, reporting to Kellee McKeever, Director of International Sales.
Founded in 1994 in Los Angeles by Michael Bell and Michael Wegmann, the company has grown to become one of the top ten education/entertainment software publishers in the US market. Through organic growth alone, the company now achieves annual revenues in excess of $35 million* in its home territory.

Encore has partnerships with a number of the best-known brands in knowledge and entertainment, including National Geographic, Sesame Street, and licenses with Hasbro, Vivendi Universal Publishing, Mattel and Ubisoft.

“Encore Software has been something of a ‘best-kept secret’ outside of the US,” says Jim Mackonochie. “However, with the extraordinary success and phenomenal growth that the company has achieved in its home territory, it was only a matter of time before it made the leap into the European markets.

“With the proven winners in the launch line-up and what I have seen of what’s to come, I have no doubt that the arrival of Encore Software is going to be a real treat for both home software consumers and retailers alike.”

The company will launch into the UK market initially, with a 32-title range, divided into five categories:

  • National Geographic
  • Sesame Street
  • 3-in-1 Gold Collection
  • ‘Great Value’ Collection - Children
  • ‘Great Value’ Collection – Family Games
