Sports Interactive beats all in The Sunday Times ARM Tech Track 100

Sports Interactive must be Bollinger’s best customer at the moment, as the team has cause to celebrate yet again. The company behind the phenomenally successful Championship Manager series of football management simulations has been listed at number 22 in this year’s The Sunday Times ARM Tech Track 100 (published yesterday) – some 26 places ahead of any other games company listed.
Sports Interactive made such a high listing in The Sunday Times ARM Tech Track 100 by increasing their sales by an incredible 129.1% per year, from £281,000 in 1998 to £1.6m in 2000. These impressive figures are from sales of just one release a year, which is usually an update. Championship Manager: Season 01/02 smashed sales records when it was released on October 12th, selling an astonishing 103,000 units (source: ChartTrack) to become the fastest selling PC game of all time in the UK (breaking its own record, set by Championship Manager 3 in 1998).

Miles Jacobson, Managing Director of Sports Interactive, was in an upbeat mood today as he said, “Everyone at SI is ecstatic with our listing in the Tech Track 100. All of the team has contributed equally to the achievements we have enjoyed lately. We have a wonderful, loyal team, many of whom have been here since the company began. Our success is not just qualified in terms of our sales; we have an unbelievably low staff turnover rate and a family-like team spirit that is second to none. It’s a great place to work, and I firmly believe that our success in working together is invaluable to our success in producing the world’s greatest football management simulations.”

The company is increasing their portfolio by releasing Championship Manager Quiz on PC and PlayStation in time for Christmas this year, and is looking forward to the release of Championship Manager 4 next year. They are therefore understandably confident that they can continue this amazing run of success.

The other games companies that made the list were VIS Entertainment at 51, Blitz Games at 73 and Eutechnyx at 99.
