Myth III - The Wolf Age In Stores NOW - Screens

by Rainier on Nov. 2, 2001 @ 10:49 a.m. PST

Computer and video game publisher GodGames, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., along with developer MumboJumbo today announced that "Myth III: The Wolf Age" for PC is in stores NOW. The fully 3D squad-based real-time strategy game is the third installment of the critically acclaimed Myth franchise (not to be confused with the Myst series). In addition, the company has released a new multiplayer demo of the game featuring Internet and LAN game play, available HERE, in the "News" section of the site.

"Myth III: The Wolf Age" takes place 1000 years before the first two Myth games, and focuses on the exploits of the legendary hero Connacht, who saved mankind from the vile Myrkidia and Trow races. The story opens with the world in chaos, when most of humanity has been scattered for centuries. To defeat the
enemies, players must cast spells, gain experience, collect items, and build ancient devices.

"We wanted to take Myth fans back to the origins of this fascinating universe and show them what was only hinted at in the previous two games," said Mike Donges, Executive Producer at MumboJumbo. "With classic Myth game play, Internet multiplayer on GameSpy, and a completely modern 3D engine, Myth III brings the series to a new generation of Mythers."

The game sets new standards for 3D real-time strategy games through the use of true 3D characters, deformable terrain and trees, innovative network games, a
powerful roster of units and an engrossing story.

In addition, the game features:

  • More than 40 unique units. Each unit features their own attacks and spells, and over a dozen skeletal animations.
  • 25 single-player levels. Players conduct sieges, defend walls, and explore labyrinthine dungeons. They battle in sweltering deserts and vile swamps - under
    rain, wind, and snowfall.
  • Several multiplayer options. Gamers can play online right out of the box, and battle against friends on specialized netplay maps. Options include Capture the
Flag, Territories, Steal the Bacon, and Assault. In addition, players can team up with their friends to try the single-player game co-operatively.
  • New map editor. With Vengeance, the Myth III tag editor, anyone will be able to create their own maps and scenarios. Vengeance will available for download
soon after the release of Myth III from www.mumbojumbo.com.

About the "Myth III" Multiplayer Demo
The newly released demo includes a multiplayer map, and is designed to allow users to tweak their systems in preparation for playing "Myth III: The Wolf Age."
"Ramparts" accommodates two to 16 players, from both Light and Dark Armies and includes seven of Myth III's 14 multiplayer modes, from Myth's famous
Steal the Bacon mode to a series of new multiplayer options developed by MumboJumbo.
