14 Degrees East, a division of Interplay Entertainment Corp. (Nasdaq: IPLY), announced today that the highly anticipated action-strategy game Hostile Waters(R): Antaeus Rising(TM) has shipped to retail outlets nationwide. Developed for Windows 95/98/00/ME-based computers by Rage Software, one of the UK's premier development houses, Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising is a real-time strategy game combined with third person action elements.
Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising is the next stage in action-strategy gaming, adding a new level of excitement to classic resource management and unit control. In Antaeus Rising, players will be able to oversee research, construction, and strategic planning from onboard the Antaeus in a traditional real-time strategy game style. Players will have the ability to move into third person action, and take control of up to 10 different vehicles at any point during the gameplay. As players advance throughout the game, they will acquire new units and technology as well as move the storyline forward, eventually facing the game's mysterious final enemy.
The year is 2032 and the entire world is at peace. A cabal of Old World magnates -- the once powerful financers, the despots and presidents, the death loving military men -- are all working together to destabilize the planet, and return civilization to its fractured hate-ridden war economy past. The only way to fight the Cabal is to raise the Antaeus, a battleship from the past, and the last of the greatest war machines ever built. Armed with the capability to generate war vehicles in seconds, players jump into battle with the Antaeus by creating tanks, choppers, hovercrafts, and other units; each radio linked to the Antaeus by the minds of dead soldiers downloaded into "Soulcatcher" chips. With these chips, a unit can be destroyed, leaving the Soulcatcher chip to be plugged into another unit seconds later, ready for more battle. To save the future, humanity must resurrect the past.
