You guessed it: Disco Cathedral.

It's up to you to satisfy our desire for funky fresh fragging grooves by creating the hippest, wackiest, most colorful Gothic Cathedral around - transformed into a 1970's shrine to K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Gloria Gaynor and the Bee Gees. Think Notre Dame meets Studio 54 and you've just about got it.

All maps must be created with the Serious Editor included with Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. All maps must be fragmatch maps - no single-player maps will be accepted. Maps can utilize any of the 3D models and textures included with the Serious Editor, but feel free to create your own - in fact, you may feel you need to do so in order to capture that true disco ambience. Any maps submitted will remain public domain and can be freely traded elsewhere online - however, they must be uploaded to us for prize consideration. Maps will be judged solely by Gathering of Developers by play-testing each one and subjectively rating it in relation to the others we've received on the basis of creativity, skill, adherence to the stated requirements, and fun factor.

To upload your maps, first create a text file containing the following information:

• Your Mailing Address
• Your Email Address
• Your Phone Number
• Your Age
• Zip up all the files and then point your favorite FTP application to our server at ftp://serioussam.godgames.com, using a standard anonymous login (username: anonymous, password: your email address).

Note: you will not see any files on this ftp server, not even your own once uploaded. This is normal and is to ensure your own security and privacy.

The submission period ends Friday, May 17, 2002. Must be 18 or older to enter.

1. Eligibility: The Serious Sam Disco Inferno Contest is open to legal residents of the U.S. age 18 or older, who have an active e-mail account and Internet access as of the beginning of the Promotion/Giveaway period. Employees of Sponsors and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, their immediate family members and persons living in their same household, are not eligible to participate in the Promotion/Giveaway. Participation in the Promotion/Giveaway constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules & Regulations ("Official Rules"). VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

2. To Enter: You may enter the Promotion/Giveaway by: Submitting your completed Disco Cathedral level map, along with required personal information, to our public ftp server at You may submit as many maps as you wish. As this is a skill-based contest, the odds of winning are not affected by multiple entries.

3. Prize Drawing: All Promotion/Giveaway entries meeting the requirements of these Official Rules will be entered into the prize judging, to be held on or around May 30, 2002 at the Gathering of Developers offices, 575 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. The judging will be conducted by Gathering of Developers whose decisions are final and binding. The winners will be selected based on the overall quality of the level map - adherence to the stated requirements, design interest and fun factor. Winners will be notified by e-mail and/or telephone.

4. Prizes and Odds: The prizes to be awarded from the Promotion/Giveaway are as follows: Grand Prize Winners receive one Visiontek Xtasy GeForce 4 Ti 4600. Retail value of approximately $400.00 (US) per Grand Prize Winner. The odds of winning a prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Winners are solely responsible for any and all federal, state, provincial and local taxes that apply to prizes. No cash or other substitution of prizes is permitted. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen prizes. Approximate total value of all prizes to be awarded: $400 (U.S.).

5. Notification of Winners: Winners will be notified by e-mail within five (5) business days of the final judging, and may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and publicity/liability release within five days of notification. If a selected Winner cannot be contacted after a reasonable attempt, is ineligible, fails to claim a prize and/or where applicable an affidavit of eligibility and publicity/liability release is not timely received, is incomplete or modified, prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner will be selected from remaining valid, eligible entries timely submitted. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail account specified in the entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

6. General Rules: By entering, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. The Promotion/Giveaway is offered by Sponsor, Gathering of Developers, 575 Broadway, New York, NY 10012, which is not responsible for late, lost, delayed, incomplete, or misdirected entries, responses, or other correspondence, whether by e-mail or postal mail or otherwise, or for theft or destruction or unauthorized access or alterations of entry materials, phone, electrical, network, computer, hardware, software program or transmission malfunctions, failures or difficulties. By participating and winning a prize, Winner releases Sponsor, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, sponsors, and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all liability with respect to the Promotion/Giveaway or the acceptance, possession or use of any prize, including without limitation (i) any condition caused by events beyond Sponsor's control that may cause the Promotion/Giveaway to be disrupted or corrupted; (ii) any injuries, losses, or damages (compensatory, direct, incidental, consequential or otherwise) of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the prize, or acceptance, possession, or use of the prize, or from participation in the Promotion/Giveaway; and (iii) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Promotion/Giveaway. Sponsor's decisions in all respects relative to the Promotion/Giveaway are final. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Promotion/Giveaway in whole or in part, in the event of fraud, technical or other difficulties or if the integrity of the Promotion/Giveaway is compromised, without liability to the entrant. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any winner, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. The winner is responsible for paying any income taxes on the value of the prize received. Additional Conditions: Except where prohibited, by accepting any prize, Winner consents to the use of his/her name, photo and/or likeness, biographical information, winning entry and statements attributed to winner (if true) for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation.
