The PCI Express architecture significantly increases bandwidth between the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) through a Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVOS), enabling the balanced distribution of bandwidth to those applications that require it the most. For end-users, this results in a seamless multimedia experience with cinematic-quality graphics at its core.
"We applaud NVIDIA's involvement in the development of the PCI Express specification," said Bob Gregory, Arapahoe Work Group Spokesperson. "PCI Express is the next step in delivering the bandwidth and features required for exciting, new graphics applications."
Products based on PCI Express architecture are expected to become available in the second half of 2003. Additional information on PCI Express can be found on the official webpage.
