Spider-man began casting its worldwide web this weekend as it annihilated all opening weekend records to take $114m in just three days in the US. The web-spinning hero crushed a long list of records in its historic debut, including Sony’s own pacesetter Men in Black and the current holder of the opening weekend record The Lost World. The five day $100m figure from both Star Wars Episode I and Harry Potter, became history as Spidey took over $100m in just three days.
