by Rainier on July 1, 2002 @ 7:55 p.m. PDT

Ubi Soft Entertainment today announced the development of Battle Realms: Winter of the Wolf -- the next episode to the Battle Realms series developed by Thousand Oaks, CA based Liquid Entertainment. This prequel to the epic Battle Realms story will feature new expansion units and characters that will immerse gamers deeper into the Battle Realms world revealing the history and struggle of the Wolf Clan. The game will be co-published by Ubi Soft Entertainment and Crave Entertainment for the PC and is scheduled to release in fall 2002.

Battle Realms is a fantasy, real-time strategy game inspired by Japanese mythology and traditional kung-fu cinema. The depth of the Battle Realms mythology intertwines stories from several clans, each with its own unique origin and culture. Winter of the Wolf takes place seven years prior to the events in the original Battle Realms and accounts the proud Wolf people's rise from oppression and slavery under the Lotus Clan. The Wolf Clan's rise to power occurs over the course of twelve all-new scenarios. As heroic Wolf leader Grayback, players must journey through dark mines and snowbound forests to free the clan from the tyranny of the Lotus Mages, and save the land from a fierce, magical winter.

Battle Realms has received numerous awards and praise from the most influential critics and media within the gaming industry, including 13 awards and nominations following E3 2001. Battle Realms appeared on Computer Gaming World's "Top 10 Games of E3 2001," and the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences nominated Battle Realms for "Computer Strategy Game of the Year".

Battle Realms: Winter of the Wolf will be sold with the original Battle Realms included for a suggested retail price of $29.99. Current Battle Realms owners will receive a $10 off discount with proof of purchase through mail-in rebate.
