Set to be the most authentic and compelling tactical real time strategy game ever designed, Wartime Command will excel in detail and accuracy, especially in its portrayal of period weapons of war.
In addit ion to bringing innovation and a new epic 3D visual standard to tactical strategy gaming, the intense experience of Wartime Command’s gameplay is compounded by the amount of research invested in the game by the development team at 1C in Russia.
Over 300 individual vehicles, planes and weapons have been recreated from military blueprints, photographic reference and technical information. Vehicles and planes are fully modelled from military data, internal schematics and up to 20 external photos taken from all angles.
All aspects of vehicle, armour and damage levels make use of the game's sophisticated physics engine. In a Tiger Tank, for example, front, side, rear, top
and turret armour values will be depicted correctly - as are the ballistics and damage of any projectile hitting the tank.
Commanders will be able to see the effect of the enemy's bullet and shell holes on the armour, which c ould even destroy parts of the tank… watch in awe as the tracks are damaged or even blown straight off. Return fire and hit the turret or barrel of an e nemy tank in the right place and see it come flying away from the chassis. F ire into a crack in an enemy tank and take out the crew within.
It's not only the vehicles that are authentic - the battlefield environments are being recreated from accurate topographical maps, street maps, aerial images and
period landscape photography. Every hill, valley, embankment, forest, road, building and landmark will look as they were in the real battles.
Buildings and landscape elements are destructible too. Fire shells into the ground on a water plain and the scorch-edged hole created by the impact will grad
ually fill with water.
With such historically rich detailing and authenticity, Wartime Command: Battle For Europe 1939-1945 is set to be a landmark tactical war game when it's published for PC by Codemasters in the spring of 2004.
