This special edition features an exclusive interview with Rand Miller, co-creator of the Myst franchise, titled, "Myst: Reflecting the Past, Embracing the Future."
"This is a great way for anyone who might be new to Myst to immerse themselves in the entire Myst trilogy," said Rand Miller, founder and chief executive officer of Cyan Worlds, Inc. "It will prepare new explorers for the adventure to come in Uru and re-acquaint experienced explorers with the Myst Ages they've come to love."
Customers who pre-order Uru in person at Electronics Boutique and GameStop stores nationwide will instantly receive the exclusive interview with Rand Miller on DVD. Upon returning to the store to pick up their copy of Uru, they will receive their copy of the Myst 10TH Anniversary DVD Edition, including Myst Masterpiece, Riven, and Myst III Exile, re-engineered to be fully XP compatible. This is the first Myst compilation to become available on DVD format and supports both Macintosh and PC platforms.
Dedicated online shoppers will also benefit, as those who pre-order Uru online at Amazon.com (www.amazon.com) or the Ubisoft Store (http://store.ubi.com) will receive the Myst 10TH Anniversary DVD Edition for free upon delivery of the final game - also, to clarify, the Rand Miller exclusive, "Myst: Reflecting the Past, Embracing the Future," interview is included on the DVD edition disk.
"Ubisoft is pleased to offer such a compelling and value driven pre-sell campaign," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft, "We're confident Uru is going to achieve both critical and commercial success and this is a great way to kick things off by rewarding loyal fans, while introducing new ones to the Myst franchise."
Uru offers the deepest, most compelling Myst storyline to date as players participate in a modern day exploration and restoration of the ancient D'ni(tm) civilization. The new 3D immersive environment will engage players as they find themselves inside the experience. The game features a complete single-player offline adventure as well as the option to continue the adventure with Uru Live, an online service that will expand the Uru experience with new content, features, and areas to explore.
Uru is the latest chapter in the Myst series - one of the most widely recognized game brands in history, with more than 12 million units sold worldwide.
URU: BACKGROUND
The story of the D'ni civilization began when they established their underground empire on Earth some 10,000 years ago. The D'ni practiced a technology called the "Art of Writing" to create links to incredible alternate worlds of fantastic variety called "Ages," to which they could travel through "Linking Books." During that time, a group of D'ni traveled to the surface of what is now southern New Mexico, connecting our world and theirs.
The D'ni people thrived for thousands of years, but later met with a great catastrophe that ended their civilization. The vast underground cities of the D'ni were left uninhabited and their Linking Book technology seemed lost forever - until now.
