Nyko Technologies has shipped its iType2 Controller with Mini-Keyboard for PlayStation 2 to major retail outlets and specialty electronics stores. Officially licensed by Sony Computer Entertainment America, the iType2 features a mini-keyboard built directly into the pad and allows players to chat, share information and type messages to other players - with no interruptions in gameplay. Nyko's new product will sell for $39.99 MSRP.

"The iType2 is going to revolutionize online console gaming," said Susan Corben, director of marketing, Nyko Technologies. "Interaction with other gamers will now be seamless, and not interrupt the flow of play in games which rely on typing for communication."

Nyko's iType2 is perfect for games such as EverQuest: Online Adventures Frontiers which focus on multi-player interaction as an integral part of gameplay. The iType2's mini-keyboard design allows players to type messages and commands without slowing down or losing control of the action onscreen, and the familiar PlayStation 2 analog buttons and joystick controls offer the same precision gameplay PlayStation 2 players are accustomed to.

Additional features include:

  • Online gaming/Internet ready to use for chatting and other online gaming features for titles that support a USB keyboard
  • Full-feature analog controller with pressure-sensitive buttons and vibration function
  • 4 fully programmable macro buttons for codes, commands, and passwords
  • Stylish ergonomically designed thumb-board for comfort and practicality
