When released in arcades in 1987, R-TYPE dominated the arcade gaming world with its original Force Charge system and its unique level design. Each iteration of the series R-TYPE has evolved in both speed and intensity. R-TYPE FINAL is the ultimate chapter in the series. In this final episode, players are sure to find an unparalleled arcade shooting experience.

“R-TYPE is a game that brings back memories of good times at the local arcade,” said Tom Marx, Producer at Eidos. “Gamers newly-introduced to the series will also be in for a surprise. Good gameplay never goes out of style, and R-TYPE FINAL has tremendous style.”

R-TYPE FINAL allows players to customize the color and weapon systems of their ships for the first time in R-TYPE franchise history. R-TYPE FINAL will feature as many as 100 different ships available to empower the player’s progress through the game. Players will also be able to select a variety of game modes including Shooting Mode, AI vs. Mode, and Score Attack Mode. Players will also be given the ability to select difficulty levels, tailoring the gaming experience further.

The gameplay style of R-TYPE FINAL will follow the classic R-TYPE formula. Players will navigate through strange alien environments that can only exist in the R-TYPE universe. Beautifully designed enemies large and small will fill the screen and make for a most dynamic and challenging gaming experience.
