'Netamin' Opens New Taiwan Office

U.S. based Netamin, developer of the first Massively Multiplayer Online Sports Game – Ultimate Baseball Online (UBO), has increased its international reach with the opening of an office in Taiwan. The new facility, called Netamin Asia, allows the company to strengthen its presence in Asia and establish itself with the growing online gaming community in the region.

“More than four million people in Korea and Taiwan are playing games online, and we recognize the potential,” said Andy Wang, president of Netamin. “Our established presence in the U.S., coupled with our outreach in Asia, helps solidify Netamin’s position as an international contender in the massively multiplayer market.”

Netamin Asia will host the UBO Asia league, which will include China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea with additional regional countries to be serviced in the near future. The office’s full-scale operations are slated to also include sales, marketing, customer service and technical support for subscribers.

“We received many enthusiastic e-mails from gamers in Taiwan as soon as the UBO mini-games were released in November 2002, many of whom have since participated in our alpha testing,” said Gabriel Law, producer of UBO. “After seeing the huge demand for UBO, coupled with the enormous popularity of baseball in many Asian countries, we determined that localization costs would be well worth it.”

The Netamin Asia office is a key step in implementing the company’s global marketing strategy and establishing a site for future Netamin MMOSG ventures, including regional and world championships as well as the introduction of other sports.

Netamin Corporation is headquartered in California and has an existing office in Korea, which is currently involved in the development of UBO. Netamin also plans to service additional territories in the future by opening an European office in Winter 2003.
