If choosing to set out as a pirate or trader blows wind into your sails, acquiring valuable and scarce goods throughout your journey can be considered an invaluable trait and one that could eventually form rewarding pay-offs in the end. Priceless items such as gold, wine, grain, rum, and potatoes carry significant price tags for the average townsperson, but as a skilled pirate or trader, these items can be attained by robbing fellow pirates, local townspeople or ships within the Caribbean “New World.” Be warned, reputation within society can haunt even the most skilled pirates and traders!

PC gamers will also have the opportunity to enter the “New World” as an adventure-seeking buccaneer, seeking to conquer their enemies’ villages, battling opponents in the high seas and searching for the same hidden treasures as the enemy throughout a host of challenging missions. As if these obstacles weren’t difficult enough, the expansive “New World” covers more than 40 million square miles and features over 60 unique towns.

With explosive naval battles that display ship damage, smoke and blazing fires in strikingly realistic 3D views, a full “pick up and play” tutorial mode and multiplayer capabilities that support as many as 8 players via LAN or internet, Port Royale is set to sail to the top of the RTS genre.

Port Royale is scheduled for release in June 2003 for the PC platform.
