French developer Microids has announced that the sequel to last year's awards winning adventure game Syberia II is being delayed. Originally scheduled for release this coming fall it is now being pushed back to Q1 2004. Reason for the delay is to give Syberia mastermind Benoit Sokal and his team extra/sufficient time to deliver the best product possible. Read more for details ...

"Even though the PC version of Syberia II respects all of its development timelines, it looks more than evident that the PS2 and Xbox ports would not be available for a simultaneous launch" as indicated by Emmanuel Olivier, Microïds new CEO and owner. "This strategic decision respects our business plan and will help Microïds launch its biggest title in history on all major platforms simultaneously. This will also solidify its place in the industry as one of the leaders in adventure games genre"

Pushing the launch date will give the development team two extra months to polish the development and enhance certain elements of the game play, animation and cinematic.

"It's a creators dream to have his creation period lengthened.," says an enthusiastic Benoît Sokal, author and art director of Syberia II. "We are now in a situation where we can work on the small details that will make Syberia II such a unique gaming experience."
