Other big-screen names provide the characters' voices. Michael Ironside (news) continues his role as Sam Fisher, the tough but shrewd special agent whose presence links the hugely popular franchise together. In this latest adventure, he is joined by "24" co-star Dennis Haysbert (news) as Irving Lambert, Fisher's supervisor and colleague.
Haysbert said he is a longtime fan of Clancy's work and was very pleased that the game is true to the author's "tense realism, compelling story line and attention to detail."
He said the game's pace and conspiracy-ridden story line compare favorably to a film. "With its stunning visuals and strong use of light and shadows, it looks like a movie, too," Haysbert said. "I can't wait to play it with my son!"
Schifrin's music has been on one video game before -- it would have been unthinkable for "Mission: Impossible" to migrate from television to movies and then to games without his signature theme. But this is the first time he has written specifically for the medium.
A spokeswoman for Schifrin said Ubi Soft had approached the artist because of "his proven talent for creating tension and excitement through music." No composer of his stature has worked in video games before, she said.
"Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow" is scheduled to be released March 18 on all gaming platforms.
