TKO Software Signs NDL’s Gamebryo For Sahara (PS2)

by Rainier on March 25, 2004 @ 8:52 a.m. PST

NDL announced today, from the 2004 Game Developers Conference (GDC), that TKO Software, Inc. has licensed Gamebryo for use in the development of the PlayStation2 version of a 3D action adventure game based on the upcoming movie Sahara.

“Partnering with NDL was an ideal solution for this project because of their proven track record and the extensive knowledge and experience of their technical support team,” said Jacob Hawley, president and chief executive officer of TKO Software, Inc. “It was crucial that we deliver a multi-platform title at the same time as the movie launch. Licensing Gamebryo for the PlayStation2 will help us to deliver Sahara on schedule.”

Sahara is an upcoming film from Paramount Pictures and Crusader Entertainment based on one of the series of best-selling books by Clive Cussler. The movie stars Matthew McConaughey, Penelope Cruz and Steve Zahn.

Gamebryo provides the graphics engine and tools to help companies like TKO Software generate stunning 3D graphics without sacrificing the development time necessary to create compelling content and gameplay. Gamebryo is used in the creation of computer and video games for the PC, Xbox™, PlayStation2, and GameCube®.

“We’re thrilled to be working with TKO Software and to be a part of a motion picture-based game,” said John Austin, president and chief executive officer of NDL. “Gamebryo’s flexibility allows TKO to use the best features of Gamebryo and their own software to bring unique elements to gamers.”
