'Call Of Duty' Wins Overall Game Of The Year

by Rainier on March 9, 2004 @ 1:37 a.m. PST

Call of Duty delivers the gritty realism and cinematic intensity of WWII's most epic battlefield moments - from the perspective of citizen soldiers and unsung heroes representing an alliance of countries, who together helped shape the course of modern history.

Infinity Ward's critically-acclaimed, gritty and cinematic WWII thriller Call of Duty blitzed the competition as it was named the Computer First-Person Action Game of the Year, Computer Game of the Year and the event's most prestigious distinction, Overall Game of the Year.

"We're honored that Call of Duty was acknowledged by the Academy among the best that the industry has to offer," stated Kathy Vrabeck, president, Activision Publishing, Inc. "We always strive to make great games that will innovate and entertain, and this honor is a testament to the hard work Infinity Ward put into the development of Call of Duty."

Since its release, the WWII thriller has been a hit, toping the charts in North America as the best-selling full price PC title from November 2003 through January 2004. And, Call of Duty has garnered more than 47 Editor's Choice Awards and 20 Game of the Year Awards worldwide.
