In the series as well as in the game, Sydney Bristow rarely carries a gun. More times than not, she creates a makeshift weapon from an object that she finds lying nearby. Whether it’s a weapon from the armory, a frying pan in the kitchen, or a broken wooden chair in the casino - you can basically use anything that you can pick up.

However, unlike other games, you are not the only one who can pick up objects lying around. In Alias, your enemy is just as smart as you are. Your assailant can just as easily smack you over the head with a broken chair or beat you with a wooden broom, which he found nearby.

We actually thought that ABC would not like Sydney to use a lot of guns in this game. However, we felt that it was unrealistic that she could disarm a guard, but not be able to use his weapon. So, we decided to put a clever spin on things. Rather than just hosing the place down in lead, you get as many shots as your enemy had left in his/her clip when you originally stole the gun. Therefore, if he had 10 shots left, you only have 10 shots to take.

Sydney Bristow is a master of Krav Maga, which is an Israeli defense force combat style invented in the late 1960s. Krav Maga is an extremely brutal form of combat and includes punching people in the eyes, the nose and the joints. However, rather than just using the same six moves over and over, we included different fighting styles depending on your location. Other combat methods include Capoeira, Kung fu, Kickboxing, Jeet Kune do and Eskrima. Also, we used two world-renowned Karate experts to help give the fighting moves an exceptionally authentic and true-to-life feel.
