'Aladdin Chess Adventures' Announced

by Rainier on May 15, 2004 @ 11:52 p.m. PDT

Fluent Entertainment, Vivendi and Disney Interactive today announced Disney's Aladdin Chess Adventures, which was showcased at this week's E3. Following up on its 2003 hit Hoyle Majestic Chess, Disney's Aladdin Chess Adventures features one of Disney's most recognizable characters, Aladdin. Disney's Aladdin Chess Adventures will be released in October 2004 to coincide with the DVD release of the "Platinum Edition" Ten Year Anniversary Aladdin animated feature film.

Long associated with strategy and intelligence Disney's Aladdin Chess Adventures for the PC will attract kids to the game of kings with delightful animations and sounds. In addition to a world-class chess engine, excellent tutorials and beautifully rendered boards, pieces and backgrounds Disney's Aladdin Chess Adventures offers even more than the best player v. player and player v. computer modes. It also includes Fluent Entertainment's amazing Aladdin-themed Adventure mode.

Set to capture the minds of young players at every level with a completely new way to learn and play chess, the Adventure mode combines the best aspects of an adventure game with the best of chess. A game within a game, Disney's Aladdin Chess Adventure allows players to experience chess and battle opponents through a variety of challenges. Players earn chess pieces and magical items by defeating opponents, solving puzzles, playing mini-games, winning speed trials and more, all in the context of an exciting multi-chapter Aladdin quest.

"Parents and kids love chess, but it can be difficult to get kids first interested in the game," said Dominique Bourse, CEO Fluent Entertainment. "At Fluent we have come up with a way of learning and playing chess that is intuitive, story driven and as exciting for kids as any other computer game on the market."

Disney's Aladdin Chess Adventures will be distributed by Vivendi Universal Games. The product launches in the United States in October 2004.
