Get the UT2004 'Unreal Annihilation' Mod Beta 1 Off Worthplaying (95mb)
The story line simply follows in Total Annihilation's footsteps. Even after the war between humans had ended, the two factions of the Arm and Core still fight on over un-inhabited worlds, lead by their Commanders. Instead of human pilots, the Core simply copied their soldier's brain patterns into a comuter, allowing them to simply copy it into each new unit, where the Arm uses cloning to create its pilots. Thus the war of the clones vs patterns began, better known as the Arm vs the Core.
Thanks to Overand for correcting me on a few points here!
Control interface
The control interface in Unreal Annihilation will consist of two modes. The main mode is the overhead view, seen in most RTS games, such as Total Annihilation, and starcraft. In this view, you will be able to control all of your team's units with the standard 'Point and Click' control system most RTS gamers are already familiar with. Units being controled by human players may given orders, but there is no garuntee that the player will follow them.
The second mode is a First Person Shooter style view, that allows you to take control of any unit on your team. You will have control over all of the unit's available weapons and abilities, as well as its restrictions. This view allows players to get a front row seat in the melee, as well as participate, and possibly even sway the battle in their favor.
Unit classes
There are four standard unit classes. Each class has its own base advantages over another, and different classes should be used depending on the situation.
K-bots, walking units that can carry complex weapons and are fast, but easy to kill.
Vehicles, which can carry heavy weapons, but are slow and cumbersome, as well as easy targets.
VTOLs (Vertical Take-Off/Landing), aircraft which are fast and hard to hit, but have somewhat weaker weapons, and do not take much punishment.
Naval units, which can dish out damage with their large weapons, as well as take a fair amount of damage, but have limited usefulness against ground units.
Hovercraft are not listed, as we are not sure if they will be included due to time and manpower limitations.
