'The Movies' Gets Malkovich Clothes Line

by Rainier on Dec. 22, 2005 @ 12:55 p.m. PST

Imagine you could make any movie you wanted to. Imagine you could pluck someone from obscurity and make him or her the hottest star in Tinseltown. Imagine that you had control of an entire movie studio, competing with others to create a string of box office smashes. Imagine being able to use your judgement alone, deciding whether success lies with epic action pictures or lots of low budget hammy 'B' movies.

In January, players will be able to log on to www.themoviesgame.com, go to the Prop Shop and use virtual credits earned from creating and uploading movies to the web site to purchase John Malkovich "Uncle Kimono" outfits for their stars. Malkovich says the collection "has resonance of late 1950's California beach boys, some Palm Springs Rat Pack, a touch of lounge lizards, and a recollection of a Swiss banker who's been let go." More information about Malkovich's clothing line can be found at www.johnmalkovich.org.

Launched on December 16, 2005, the Prop Shop will be updated regularly with a host of new costumes, sets, and props for players to download and use in their cinematic masterpieces.

The Movies for Windows(R) PC allows gamers to become Hollywood players by creating unique movies and releasing them from the studios they build, starring the actors they discover and develop.

The game is available now for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and is rated "T" (Teen with blood and gore, crude humor, mild language, sexual themes, use of alcohol and tobacco, and violence) by the ESRB. The Premiere Edition version of The Movies for Windows PC is available for a suggested retail price of $59.99 and is rated the same.
