'10 Pin: Champions Alley' (PS2) - 14 New Screens

by Rainier on March 21, 2005 @ 8:37 a.m. PST

The ideal choice for a night in with the girls, a rainy afternoon with the children or some after-hours entertainment with the lads, 10 Pin: Champions Alley takes the popular pastime of bowling out of the lanes and into the living room. This is the perfect party game for up to eight players, a standard PS2 and a single controller.

Since the early 1960s, when the first bowling centres opened in the UK, 10-Pin Bowling has been one of Britain's favourite leisure activities. The last decade has seen a massive expansion thanks to advancements in technology and larger disposable incomes. There are now more than 250 bowling centres across all parts of the UK, with over 70,000 competitive leagues nationwide and further growth is forecast. Despite this obvious professional sporting interest, bowling is still seen as a 'fun' pastime that can be enjoyed by all members of the family. 10-Pin: Champions Alley builds upon this with its unique 8-Player feature, making it the perfect party game for kids and adults alike.

Liquid's new title features a choice of several environments; from a Halloween-theme, where the pins sit in the maw of a giant Jack-O-Lantern and with a funked up version of Grieg's Hall of the Mountain King playing in the background to a 1950's inspired retro bowling alley, complete with a honky-tonk soundtrack.

With a choice of eight colourful characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, three difficulty settings and the option of playing in practice, quick match or tournament
modes, players can perfect their bowling skills - all without the risk of a slipped disc!

Publishing director for Liquid Games, Kevin Hassall commented:

"10 Pin Champions Alley, like so many of our titles, is based on immediately accessible, mass-market subject matter, and provides perfect casual gameplay for the new breed of PS2 games player. Most importantly, the provision of an eight-player game feature makes it ideal for play between groups of friends as a normal part of an evening's entertainment. We have to accept that for casual gamers, gameplay is something that's done as part of a normal social life, with friends and often in quite short doses; 10 Pin Champions Alley is perfect for these mass market consumers."

10-Pin: Champions Alley will be available on PS2 in May, with an SRP of just £9.99.
