'Metal Combat' - 6 New Screens

by Rainier on June 7, 2005 @ 4:25 p.m. PDT

Metal Combat plans to re-invent the Fighting game genre with physics-based environments and characters, enabling fights with realistic reactions to every blow and destructible environments. More than 35 junkyard dominators can burn, blast or blow up anything in their way as they kick, crawl, run, fly and even steal each other's fuel. The game's 15 decaying, fully interactive junkyard worlds offer secret levels, unlockable bosses and hidden mini games. Single and online multi-player modes are available.

While other fighting games use preset combat animations that are simply repeated, each interaction in Metal Combat is calculated by Solar Studios' SubaZ technology. The use of a physics engine allows unlimited and unpredictable character interactions.

"Players quickly get bored of fighting games when they know exactly how their characters will react to each other in combat," said Matthew Green, Lead Designer and Software Architect at Solar Studios. "We've created a game where every reaction to every blow is unique, making each fight one-of-a-kind."

When Scrappy Muldune's once peaceful salvage yard is filled with toxic waste, all the junk mixed with the waste to create a legion of rust, iron and steel fighters, each with one goal in mind: to become the ultimate junkyard dominator.
