'Juiced: Eliminator' (PSP) Developer Q&A

by Rainier on Sept. 16, 2005 @ 12:49 a.m. PDT

Juiced: Eliminator will capture the look and feel of Juiced while building on its success with the addition of new cars, tracks, characters and game modes. The built-in wireless connectivity on the PSP lends itself to expanding the multi-player options, including multiplayer crew races, pink slip racing and the all new 'Eliminator' mode where the slowest driver per lap is removed from the competition, and the winner is the last one left in the race.

Q : Juiced makes the jump from TV screen to pocket screen. What's the full scoop?"

We were excited about the PSP from the moment rumors regarding its design and capabilities surfaced on the internet. It marks a new beginning for handheld gaming and we decided while developing Juiced that we wanted to bring the game to the PSP.

Our objective has been to evolve the Juiced brand significantly for PSP by introducing completely new game modes, new cars, new tracks, new characters and a new styling, all while improving key features from Juiced such as Pink Slip and Crew racing. We've focused on developing comprehensive new WiFi gaming modes and have spent considerable efforts tailoring the game flow and user interface to make the experience work on a handheld device.

Q : With Need for Speed Underground Rivals and Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition already on store shelves, how will Juiced entice gamers?

Juiced Eliminator is going to bring a thoroughly rewarding and compulsive racing experience to PSP. We're encouraging players to hook up for wireless competition by providing a comprehensive set of multiplayer game modes including the new Eliminator mode..

We're also determined to push the envelope visually with 60 high-quality licensed car models and visually stunning race environments. Like Juiced, we've got time of day and weather effects for all of the tracks.

Q : Will there be new cars, tracks and other goodies exclusive to Juiced on PSP?"

Juiced Eliminator features eight exclusive new cars bringing the total number of licensed cars to 60. We've introduced 20 new race environments contained in two new districts in Angel City. Every other track in the game has been modified specifically for the PSP to ensure that the game appeals equally to those seeing the title for the first time and those who have enjoyed playing and owning the console version.

We've introduced new race modes including the new Eliminator mode which was so much fun in WiFi multiplayer that we decided to add it into the single player game.

Q : How will Juiced on PSP handle multiplayer? What modes and extras can players expect from multiplayer?

Juiced Eliminator was made for WiFi multiplayer! Pink Slip, Crew and Eliminator racing are going to be very intense when it’s face to face. We've spent considerable amount of time and effort in developing new game play that turns the technology into an incredibly intense and fun experience. You can even combine crew racing with Eliminator mode. It's the combination that gets the guys here shouting at each other when we're testing the game.

Q : Will there be enough new content for owners of the console version of Juiced to covet the upcoming PSP version?

Without a doubt. Juiced Eliminator is not a port of Juiced; it is significantly evolved and introduces a whole raft of new game modes, cars, tracks and characters. The experience reflects feedback we received about Juiced and we're confident that we will build on the success of Juiced with Juiced Eliminator for PSP.
