Destineer Studios Signs AGEIA PhysX License Deal

by Rainier on Jan. 17, 2006 @ 9:02 a.m. PST

AGEIA Technologies today announced that Destineer Studios has signed a license agreement with AGEIA to use the AGEIA PhysX SDK in at least four of its upcoming titles.

Using the AGEIA PhysX SDK, Destineer will develop physics-based features specifically designed for the hardware acceleration of the AGEIA PhysX processor. The resulting game titles will offer real-time worlds, gameplay and effects that are almost indistinguishable from real-world scenarios.

Realism is an essential component in Destineer's products. The company develops virtual training systems for American military and intelligence organizations and then turns these into commercial videogames. Destineer's first game, First to Fight, which was based on a training tool Destineer developed for the United States Marine Corps, was a top-10 best seller for Xbox® the month it was released.

"Even though we had already developed our own physics capabilities for our game engine, we've now replaced these technologies with the AGEIA PhysX SDK because we found it to be remarkably powerful and cost effective," said Peter Tamte, president of Destineer. "The AGEIA PhysX SDK is the perfect physics solution for achieving the realism our titles require."

"Destineer's game engines use the best of available technology, and we're glad that they've chosen AGEIA PhysX technology to drive their game physics," said Kathy Schoback, vice president of content acquisition at AGEIA. "We look forward to working with Destineer to help them optimize our technology for their intensely realistic game titles."
