'The Movies' Website Re-launched

by Rainier on May 31, 2006 @ 4:47 a.m. PDT

Imagine you could make any movie you wanted to. Imagine you could pluck someone from obscurity and make him or her the hottest star in Tinseltown. Imagine that you had control of an entire movie studio, competing with others to create a string of box office smashes. Imagine being able to use your judgement alone, deciding whether success lies with epic action pictures or lots of low budget hammy 'B' movies.

The new design has taken into account community feedback and as a result, all The Movies Online site users will have extra disk space (10meg) and registered The Movies: Stunts & Effects Expansion Pack owners will get even more disk space (25meg). This will give movie moguls more room to share their creativity with friends and family.

A much requested feature from our community was the ability to market and promote their movies, so the new and improved site allows people to create posters promoting their latest epic in advance of its release.

The release of The Movies: Stunts & Effects Expansion Pack means that there will be new categories for stunt films and movies made using the expansion pack will also have their own dedicated sub-charts.

The online community for The Movies continues to grow with almost 90,000 movies posted to the site (which would take 196 days to back-to-back). Every month the site receives approximately 750,000 unique visitors and nearly half a million people have posed ratings for movies.

The Movies prop shop will also see a final drop in mid-June.

The Movies: Stunts & Effects is due to ship 6th June in North America and 9th June in other parts of the world.
