Playing off the "fear culture" of modern America, Bad Day L.A. plunges the player into a deep and comedic storyline carried across a variety of mission scenarios. Playing as Anthony Williams, a reluctant hero, the player must defend himself and humanity as the city of Los Angeles comes under attack from zombies, terrorists, earthquakes, riots, meteor showers, and other disasters.
Developed by acclaimed designer American McGee, Bad Day L.A. combines a cinematic and comedic narrative that satirizes the City of Angels and disaster films. The ten expansive game levels are all based on real-world L.A. neighborhoods, where the player, armed with a unique and eclectic mix of weapons including mundane firearms to spray paint can flamethrowers, must take on whatever comes their way. The game's spectacular scripted events, intelligent NPCs, engaging storyline, and compelling sound and music create a truly memorable experience.
"American and his team are offering a distinct gaming experience by serving up a game loaded with ironic comedy and outrageous scenarios framed in an artwork style inspired by Kozyndan," said Ted Staloch, Executive Vice President, Publishing for Aspyr. "Bad Day L.A. will definitely get players talking."
Anthony Williams has lost all respect for himself and his fellow man. Leaving behind the privileged life of a Hollywood agent, he chooses a life of homelessness, destitution and isolation. Like Marlene Dietrich, all he wants is to be left alone and so far he's had his wish. Today all that will change. His solitary existence is rudely interrupted by a series of natural and not so natural disasters. Forced to play the reluctant hero, Anthony must rescue Angelinos from the city that has turned its back on him and his way of life. Anthony will have to use all his street smarts to stay alive and escape what has become a very Bad Day in LA.
