'Sinking Island' (NDS/PC) Suspects #5 - Screens

by Rainier on Nov. 13, 2007 @ 4:51 p.m. PST

Sinking Island, a dark detective adventure story set on a tropical paradise. At a millionaire's hotel a crime is committed, and while the island seems to be sinking for unknown reasons, you, as detective Jack Norm, have to find out who did it.

A true police investigation, Sinking Island takes the point-and-click genre to new heights of gameplay and graphics, offering two different game modes, strategic management of a PPA (personal police assistant), immersive high-resolution environments and captivating characters, each with unique psychological profiles that evolve throughout the game.

At the base of a cliff on Sagorah Island, 82 year-old American millionaire Walter Jones is found dead next to his life's work; a massive Art Deco tower he had dreamed would become an elite getaway for international jet-setters. The only clues found at the scene include his wheelchair, abandoned at the edge of the cliff, and multiple scratches on his face. One of these scratches appears to have been made by a woman. Ten people were present on the island at that time of his death, among them the heirs to his vast fortune and legacy. Was his death an accident or murder?

Players assume the role of Jack Norm, a federal agent turned private dectective, who is taking a break in the atolls of the Indian Ocean when an old friend requests his assistance with the case. Jack has just three days to complete 10 gameplay missions, collecting valuable clues and storing evidence in his PPA. He will interrogate each of the 10 unusual suspects, using his keen deduction skills to determine who among them may have the most to gain from Walter Jones's death.

Suspect #9

Name: Hubert de Nolent
Summary: Walter Jones’ lawyer, Hubert is cold and calculating. Having won the millionaire’s trust, he knows all his secrets and is most interested in the fortune that will slip through his fingers once the inheritance is dispersed.

Suspect #10

Name: Sonia Abruzzi-Jones
Summary: Manager of her art gallery, she is the only grandchildren who has stood up to Walter Jones. She was very close to her father and believes her grandfather knew something about his death.

As the end of the third day approaches, the island and its tower will begin to sink into the ocean. Players are given a choice between two styles of gameplay to carry out their quest:

  • Race against time Mode: Jack races to beat the clock as clues disappear one by one. Players must complete each mission in time or it's "game over".
  • Adventure Mode: Players complete the game at their leisure, without any time penalty or risk of "game over," fully immersing themselves in beautiful environments.

The "Race against time" mode can be completed in approximately 15 hours, and the Adventure mode in approximately 20 hours or much more.

Microïds will release Sinking Island in the United States in Fall 2007.
