by Rainier on Feb. 1, 2007 @ 9:37 a.m. PST

Sudden Strike III: Arms for Victory will exceed the limits of conventional RTS genre. The game will simulate joint operation of ground, naval and air forces on vast areas. New user interface paradigm will allow player to control these forces avoiding unnecessary micro-management, while allowing controlling individual units manually. New 3D engine is capable of rendering large-scale maps with mountains, forests, water, with a huge amount of units.

The multiplayer map, which is included into the demo, resembles famous "Serpent" map from the Sudden Strike II game.

Also the demo contains one single mission, where a player controls Allies, with mission to liberate a city.

Comparing to the previous versions presented to the public, this official testing version introduces major improvements in the game, including:

* great performance
* new effects
* well-recognized Sudden Strike series gameplay

Important notes

1. To play this demo it is recommended to have a system with the following configuration:
* Intel Pentium IV 2.5 GHz / AMD 3000+
* 1 Gb RAM
* 500 Mb space on hard drive
2. This version supports multiplayer mode.
2.1. To play over LAN, you can create a server or join a server through the Multiplayer menu.
2.2. To play over internet, please do the following:
2.2.1. Get the IP address of the server, or get its DNS
2.2.2. In the file SS3.ini, please add the following section:
...
[Network]
HostAddr=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
...
OR
...
[Network]
HostAddr=hostname.provider.net
2.3. Note that the Player's color is bound to a location on the map. To get random locations, choose no color ("?").
2.4. Some firewalls may force the game to crash with an "unhandled exception". The game utilises the UDP port #14816 and it has to be reachable for the application.
3. Some new features
3.1. There's the Damage Diagram (it appears on the right of the screen). It appears once you hover the mouse cursor upon a tank, vehicle or a boat.
3.2. To put an infantry squad to trenches, select the soldiers then hover upon trenches. You will see the expected disposition.
3.2.1. Note that in trenches your infantry can stand (less protection, can shoot) or crouch (better protection, can't shoot).
3.3. You have to keep the number of crew to the maximum. Otherwise some guns of a tank will not shoot or you will be unable to drag a gun.
3.4. You can order some light guns to move within a short range.
