'32nd America's Cup: The Game' - 9 New Screens

by Rainier on March 21, 2007 @ 5:26 a.m. PDT

Focus Home Interactive announced a licensing partnership with the organisers of the 32nd America’s Cup and Alcatel-Lucent, Official New Media Provider to the 32nd America’s Cup, for the rights to create a new Virtual Skipper title featuring all the best facets of America's Cup racing.

Considered to be the ultimate in nautical simulations, Virtual Skipper is back with a new edition which will delight all sailing fans and which highlights a magnificent campaign dedicated to the 32nd America's Cup. The game will allow you to take part in thrilling regattas aboard world-class boats on a sea surging with realism in single and multiplayer games.

We are pleased to unveil "32nd America's Cup: The Game" with three new images taken from the game. In the screens, you will see some of the official challengers sailing in the new Port America's Cup in the city of Valencia, hosts of the competition in 2007.

32nd America's Cup: The Game throws you in at the deep end of this supreme challenge in Spain, off the coast of Valencia, where the city is faithfully reproduced with Port America's Cup, the home of the 12 teams vying to win international sport's oldest prizes. Take the helm of one of the 11 official challengers and win the Louis Vuitton Cup, where you will be up against all the boats in the competition. Victory will give you the chance to take part in the 32nd America's Cup competition, and to challenge Alinghi, the famous Swiss team and defender of the America's Cup.

While the 32nd America's Cup content is the spectacular new highlight in this latest edition of Virtual Skipper, the other classes of boat have not been forgotten! Players can therefore skipper four types of boat, each behaving totally differently, on an ultra-realistic sea, which has been modeled and animated to perfection. In addition to the water courses at Valencia, Trapani, Marseille and Malmö-Skåne, all venues visited by the 32nd America's Cup, the game includes 10 other famous competitive sailing locations.

An editor will also enable you to create and incorporate your own water courses and regattas and you will therefore have a host of different maps to guarantee renewed and continued gameplay fun in the Internet multiplayer games.

The next Virtual Skipper, in development by Nadeo studio, which will be released on PC in April will be known as 32nd America's Cup – The Game and is the first time a computer game has been dedicated to the most prestigious sailing competition in the world.
