'Danger Planet' (PS3/X360/PC) Revealed

by Rainier on March 30, 2007 @ 6:17 p.m. PDT

Danger Planet is a third person action adventure game being developed by Fantasy Lab for the new generation of consoles and gaming PCs. It features cutting edge animation and beautiful visuals courtesy of our Fantasy Engine.

As Captain Jason Storm you have crash landed on an alien planet of monstrous creatures, hostile robots, and derelict alien spacecraft. Fortunately, help will come from an unexpected source, and you will need it along with all your wits and skill to find and disable the terrible weapon that blasted you from the sky or you will become a permanent resident of Danger Planet.

The Fantasy Engine is Fantasy Lab's game engine. It features a real-time global illumination system that is fast, powerful, and easy to use. Like any true global illumination renderer, it supports an environment where any surface can emit light (glow), reflect light and shadow any other surface in the environment, including itself. However, unlike ordinary global illumination renderers, the Fantasy Engine runs at real-time rates instead of taking minutes or hours per frame. It supports completely dynamic environments with deformable geometry.

The engine also features support for subdivision surfaces and displacement mapping. Used together, these two features allow for very complex models that deform naturally when animated.
