'Tom Clancy's Firehawk' Revealed?

by Rainier on April 6, 2007 @ 5:27 a.m. PDT

A little while ago, a Ubisoft release list featured a yet-unannounced title, Tom Clancy's Firehawk, which was later removed and has not been heard of since. A check on firehawkgame.com reveals a blank site, registered by Ubisoft, which has now also launched a new teaser page Rev64.com without any title reference, but featuring the Tom Clancy icon/logo. Read more for our analysis ...

A news broadcast in the background reveals some details, as it mentions infections, counter-offensives, war, the former U.S. capital moving to Boston after Washington D.C. was destroyed, terrorist attacks, collapse of the OPEC, and references to the 2028 Olympic Games and canceled 2026 Winter Olympics. However, the violence does not seem contained to North America only, as France and the UK are also involved in some way, with death tolls into the thousands.

The web site also includes various hidden links leading to a ton of military chatter about regular combat situations, with various references to known terms such as Crosscom, Ghost Leader, and even a flat-out, "We have a splinter cell loose in the field," followed by the typical sound of Sam Fisher's night-vision goggles.

Further leading us to believe the game will be set in the near future is the unknown man featured on the web site, who looks to be in his late 30s and is said to be born in 1991. He could be the central figure of the game — perhaps the never-before-seen Capt. Mitchell — and all of the audio links could be part of his background or past experiences.

The name of the actual site may hold a clue, as Rev64 could mean a link to the Bible, Revelations Chapter 6:4, "And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword," which refers to the coming Apocalypse, the end of the world, dealing with war, and famine.

The June issue of EGM will have the world-exclusive announcement, so it shouldn't be much longer now ....
