by Rainier on May 23, 2007 @ 1:20 p.m. PDT

Battlestations: Midway is a real-time 3D tactical/strategy game that adapts the naval battles of the Second World War. It introduces how the naval warfare changed during WW2 - from the dreadnaughts protecting the memory of Battle of Jutland to the forerunners of modern carriers. The player may control different vessels in real or hypothetical naval battles. The fleet consists of ships, captains, officers and crew of different abilities. In order to achieve victory, an effective team should be forged.

The new maps offer two epic battles from the Pacific Theater of World War II: the Battle of Sibuyan Sea and the Raid on Truk.

Based on one of the major battles of the Leyte Gulf Campaign, the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea provides a new multiplayer experience as one of the greatest naval warfare battles in all time history ~V one which saw the Japanese fleet effectively destroyed in October of 1944,

The Battle of the Sibuyan Sea also allows players to command the US Fleet featuring the USS Iowa and USS Enterprise, or Japan's finest fleet, the Kurita, featuring the super battleships Yamato and the ill-fated Musashi.

The single player battle, the Raid on Truk, is based on Operation Hailstone, a massive naval air and surface attack launched by the United States Navy against the Japanese naval and air base at Truk in February 1944. Players command the US Fleet in a four phase battle starting with a P-38 air strike leading to the command of the USS Enterprise and her fleet.

The new battles also feature a new and unique set of air, sea and underwater vehicles that challenge the player's skills and naval strategy. The following five new vehicles will be available: the P-38 Lightning, Nakijima J1N1 Gekko, USS Iowa (BB-61), IJN Shimakaza and the Type A mini-sub.

Requires Battlestations: Midway Patch 1.1.1 to play.
