Nintendo's Father's Day Gift Guide

by Rainier on June 13, 2007 @ 8:48 a.m. PDT

Whether it's an ugly tie, a set of discount golf balls or yet another inspirational desk set, dads always seem to end up with the lousiest gifts. Nintendo's working to change all that this year, with a number of fun ways to keep dad happy for Father's Day.

Dads Love Being Smart:

Keep dad's brain humming on all cylinders by giving him a Nintendo DS and the best-selling Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day. Caution: After dad uses Brain Age, it might be more difficult to put one over on him.

Dads Love Remotes:

Everyone knows that dad loves to be in charge of the TV remote control, so why not buy him his very own Wii Remote? It'll become as comfortable to him as his favorite chair, even as he uses it to take on the rest of the family in Wii games.

Dads Love Competition:

All kids think their dads are the smartest guys on the planet. And Nintendo is giving dads a chance to prove it with a Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree Father's Day Challenge at Nintendo World in New York. From 1-5 p.m. on June 16, dads and kids can team up for a bracket-style playoff that lets them compete for the title of "Biggest Brain." Participants will play the new Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree game in categories like thinking, memorization, computation, analysis and identification.

Dads Love Discounts:

During Saturday and Sunday of Father's Day weekend, dads who visit Nintendo World in New York with their kids will receive a 10 percent discount on all software purchases.

Dads Love to Reminisce:

Wii's Virtual Console already boasts more than 100 classic games. Many of them made their debut back when dad was rocking his mullet and parachute pants. These classic games start at just 500 Wii Points, so they make an easy and affordable Father's Day gift. But don't be surprised if dad suddenly starts schooling everyone with his retro gaming moves.
