'Yamaha Supercross' (NDS/PS2/Wii) Announced

by Rainier on June 27, 2007 @ 1:06 p.m. PDT

Play as the promising younger brother of one of the biggest names in Supercross who was hospitalized in the final race of the World Championships by Team Nemeshisu. It's up to you to take your brother's place and avenge him by claiming the world title.

The popularity of Supercross has grown steadily since the 1970’s, making these events the second most popular form of motor sport in the United States.

The game Yamaha Supercross involves racing customized high-performance off-road motorcycles on extreme man-made dirt tracks. Players master their bike handling skills over obstacles and steep jumps while racing fellow riders. Whether competing in the Championship Series or riding in stand-alone events, the track conditions can be affected by mud, bumps, and changing weather.

“We’re proud to be an integral part of this game that showcases the true excitement of Supercross racing” said Lisa Schultz from Yamaha Motor Corporation’s Licensing Department, “and with the dramatic growth of the sport, we’re sure this new game will find many new fans.”

“Utilizing Yamaha’s expertise in Supercross will create a thrilling and extreme racing game,” says Alison Kain, Marketing Director for DSI. “With the booming popularity of Supercross, it will be great to bring fans something new. This title will have the excitement and edge that hard-core Supercross fans will love, and in the process, we can introduce a whole new group to the sport.”
