Master Chief Only A Supporting Role in 'Halo' Movie

by Rainier on Jan. 16, 2008 @ 7:01 p.m. PST

Halo, enhanced for play on the PC, contains all the action-packed combat and thrilling gameplay that made it a smash hit. Armed with a new arsenal of weapons and vehicles, Halo delivers challenges and surprises as well as intense online multiplayer competition exclusively for the PC.
In an interview with Newsweek, Bungie writing director Joseph Staten reveals that Master Chief would be relegated to a more supporting role, because it would be too hard for a lead character whose face is always hidden by a helmet, and has mere one liners for dialogue, to carry the movie. Instead Master Chief was to serve as source of mystery, an anonymous problem solver for other characters to discuss and talk about, while they carried the movie.
