Devroot Studio Licenses Unreal Engine 3 for MMORPG 'BK Project'

Korean based Devroot Studio, known for MMORPG Shaiya: Light and Darkness, announced that it has licensed Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 from for an unannounced title, codenamed BK Project.

"Over the past six months, we have researched lots of game engines for our next project,” said Jeon Min-Uk, product director of Devroot Studio and chief technical officer of SONOV. “And now, we proudly announce that Unreal Engine 3 is the most flexible and capable engine, and we believe it will enable us to fully harness our creativity while developing BK Project."

“Devroot plans to create a very distinctive game using our technology, and we are prepared to thoroughly support their development efforts,” said Jay Wilbur, vice president of Epic Games. “We are thrilled to join forces with one of Korea’s top game companies, especially one that takes so much pride in delivering the highest quality games to the global marketplace.”

Developers and publishers around the world have licensed Unreal Engine 3 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Since Epic has shipped its internal titles across all supported platforms, the engine's content pipeline and technical capabilities have achieved unprecedented levels of maturity and accessibility. These advancements, combined with the continual incorporation of top quality middleware via Epic's prestigious Integrated Partners Program, has primed Unreal Engine 3 as the best possible offering for cross-platform game development for years to come.
