Thrusting players into Games Workshop's renowned fantasy world, players will be able to control six unique armies – the Empire, Chaos, Skaven, High Elves as well as the all-new Dark Elf and Orcs & Goblins forces – as they battle for supremacy in a world torn apart by constant warfare. The individual units of each army can be customized in great detail, allowing players to put their own mark on their fighting force and strike fear into their opponents with terrifying combinations of weaponry and armor.
Character Profiles 1: Dark Elves
Assassin
Dark Elf Assassins are masters of death and the bringers of oblivion. Trained from childhood as Adepts of Khaine, devotees of the god of war, death and murder, they are unparalleled warriors, skilled in weapons and poisons. They are one of the most potent tools in the armoury of the Witch King, and those lords foolish enough to displease Malekith disappear swiftly.
Beastmaster Apprentice + War Hydra
Cruel and malicious, Beastmaster Apprentices have shown a particular talent for breaking in and taming the slaves, beasts and monsters in their care. One of the most powerful of these beasts is the War Hydra, a titanic scaled creature with multiple serpentine heads, each of which belches smoke and fire.
Black Guard
The Black Guard are the personal guard of the Witch King Malekith, and the fiercest warriors in the lands of chill. Wondrously ruthless, efficient on the attack, and immovable in defence, the Black Guard are the terror of their enemies, and only the most loyal, vicious and skilled warriors are chosen to join their elite ranks.
Cold One Knights
The nobles of the Dark Elves ride to war upon the backs of vicious reptiles known as Cold Ones. The powerful jaws of the Cold Ones are easily capable of ripping a man's arm from the socket, and their tough hides protect them from all but the most powerful of blows. In order to ride these dangerous beasts the knights must conceal their own warm-blooded scent by anointing themselves with the poisonous slime exuded by the Cold Ones themselves. Their charge is truly terrifying, and few can stand against them.
Cold Ones (mount for heroes)
Cold Ones are bred far beneath the surface of the world, deep within cold, wet caverns under Naggaroth. They are deadly creatures that are almost immune to pain, and they make particularly ferocious and dangerous mounts. Though perhaps not as swift as a horse, they make up for this with their brutal strength and predatory nature.
Dark Elf Crossbowmen
Dark Elf warriors are citizen-warriors, for every Dark Elf is trained in the arts of war from a young age. Female Dark Elves are easily as capable as their male kin, and both fight side by side on the field of battle. The Repeater Crossbow is the favoured missile weapon of the Dark Elves, and its high rate of fire makes it a deadly weapon in the hands of the citizen-warriors.
Players can also control Heroes and Champions for each army, high-powered units that gain new abilities as they tear through the opposition. Placing the focus of gameplay on combat and tactics rather than tedious resource management, Warhammer: Battle March on the Xbox 360 features two control schemes for both master battlefield tacticians and novice warriors that offer full control over all aspects of the player's army. On Xbox LIVE, up to four players can engage in massive multi-army clashes in head-to-head and team-based modes of play.
Players will be able to experience the mysterious sorcery of the Dark Elves and the savage brutality of the Orcs and Goblins in an all-new chapter of the game's single player campaign as they battle to overcome an invasion by the armies of Chaos.
On the Xbox 360, Warhammer: Battle March includes the original content from Warhammer: Mark of Chaos as well as all-new features, intuitive control schemes and support for online play via the Xbox LIVE.
Warhammer: Battle March for the Xbox 360 and Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Battle March for the PC are scheduled for release in 2008.
