'Inkheart' (NDS) Announced

by Rainier on July 23, 2008 @ 10:09 a.m. PDT

Based on the feature film adaptation of the best-selling Cornelia Funke novel, Inkheart is the story of Meggie, a young girl whose father has a secret magical ability; he can bring book characters to life simply by reading the story aloud! It sounds like a wondrous gift, but evil lurks within the pages of a rare children’s fable ....

A young girl discovers her father Mo has an amazing talent to bring characters out of their books. One night he brings out three characters from Inkheart, a story set in medieval times and filled with magical beings. Capricorn and Basta, two villains, and Dustfinger, a fire-eater. Now, 10 years later Meggie discovers the truth and it's up to her to escape Capricorn's evil grasp and stop the freed villain from destroying them all, with the help of her father, her aunt, and a storybook's hero.

„Inkheart “ is the first installment in the Inkheart trilogy, written by Cornelia Funke and successfully published in 23 languages. In addition to the novels, audio books and tabletop games based on the franchise are sold.

JoWooD Productions and Tivola Publishing are working together in creating an extensive PR & marketing campaign, targeting both gamers and the movie audience. In cooperation with film distributors throughout the territories, sales figures and sell-through ratio will be optimized. A special bundle offer for the DVD release is being prepared together by Tivola and JoWooD.

Based on the Hollywood movie starring Brandon Fraser, the game will release in conjunction with the movie during the fourth quarter of 2008.
