'LEGO Batman' (ALL) Reveals Man-Bat - 8 New Screens

by Rainier on July 28, 2008 @ 10:49 a.m. PDT

LEGO Batman features all of the characters from the LEGO Batman construction sets, plus a few new additions. Gamers will have the ability to roam the streets of LEGO Gotham City as Batman or Robin, and even take control of the villains while manipulating gadgets and building and operating fantastic vehicles in one- or two-person co-op gameplay.

In LEGO Batman: The Videogame, TT Games brings the world of DC Comics' Caped Crusader to life in an entirely new way. Players can explore a richly interactive LEGO Gotham City as Batman and Robin, capturing infamous villains - and even take control of the villains themselves.

The LEGO Batman: The Videogame story unfolds with Batman's greatest foes escaping from Arkham Asylum and creating mayhem throughout Gotham City. Tracking criminals, including The Joker and The Penguin, players will utilize Batman's gadgets as well as build and operate fantastic vehicles in one or two player cooperative gameplay.

An Arkham Asylum psychiatrist assigned to treat The Joker; Dr. Harleen Quinzel was instead driven mad by the Clown Prince of Crime. She helped him escape confinement and became Harley Quinn, The Joker's devoted and love struck companion. Nearly as insane as The Joker himself, Harley Quinn is a violent and unpredictable felon who will do anything to prove her love and loyalty to her beloved Joker.

Man-Bat

Real Name: Robert Kirkland (“Kirk”) Langstrom
Occupation: Biologist
Base of Operations: Suburban Gotham City
Eyes: Red
Hair: Brown

An expert in biology with a specialty in bats, Doctor Kirk Langstrom hoped to cure his growing deafness by creating a serum that would give him a bat’s ability of echolocation, which allows those creatures to use sound to navigate in the dark. However, the serum had an unforeseen side effect, reacting with Langstrom’s genetic makeup to transform him into a man-sized bat. The serum also robbed Langstrom of his intellect, and he went on a crazed rampage, terrorizing Gotham City until Batman was able to reverse his transformation. Langstrom, unwilling to give up on the serum, injected himself again soon after, and turned once more into Man-Bat. After kidnapping his fiancĂ©e, Francine, he injected her as well, and she too became a half-human/half-bat hybrid. Batman again stopped Man-Bat, restoring both Langstrom and Francine to humanity.

In his bat-like form, Man-Bat has powerful wings that allow him to fly, and strength far greater than that of a normal human. He has the natural sonar of a bat that allows him to navigate in the dark, but his vision in daylight hours, when transformed, is severely limited.

And, because The Joker hates Batman, so does she. Batman respects Harley's physical abilities as a foe and is wary of her twisted personality, knowing that he must always expect the unexpected where she's concerned. In some ways, Batman feels sorry for Harley, who he sees as yet another of The Joker's victims. Yet her above average intelligence, enhanced strength and stamina, as well as superior acrobatic abilities and wicked sense of humour, make her an adversary to take seriously.

In the LEGO Batman videogame, Harley Quinn will be playable and have the ability to walk a tight rope, perform super jumps and bypass security for all levels with guards in security booths. Harley Quinn appears in the Fairgrounds Villain level as well as one additional level yet to be announced… stay tuned Batfans!

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will bring LEGO Batman: The Videogame to PS2, Wii, PS3, X360, and the PC in 2008.
