Monday, September 15, 2008 Shipping Announcements

by Rainier on Sept. 15, 2008 @ 3:32 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (PC)

Based on the popular tabletop game from Games Workshop, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is an epic fantasy MMORPG featuring innovative Realm vs. Realm game play that pits the armies of Order and Destruction against one another on the battlefield to determine the fate of nations. Hundreds of thousands of players have already joined the battle in the open beta, and soon the time will be at hand for players the world over to pledge their allegiance to the armies of WAR.

"This is truly a historic day for both EA and Mythic as we prepare to send more copies of WAR to retailers than any other newly launched MMORPG in North America and Europe. Over the course of our beta, over a million gamers throughout the world sent a clear signal to us - they want WAR, and we are more than happy to oblige them," said Mark Jacobs, co-founder and general manager of Mythic Entertainment. "In three days the real battle begins - we have declared September 18th the 'Day of Reckoning,' and WAR will soon be upon us!"

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, rated "T" for Teen, is available for PC at an MSRP of $49.99. WAR will be the first MMORPG to open its servers simultaneously in North America, Europe, and Oceania when it goes live on September 18th, 2008.

Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition (NDS)

The game follows the release of last year’s Drawn to Life, the first video game that allowed players to draw and play as their own characters. Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition combines elements from the original Drawn to Life title with the world of SpongeBob SquarePants, and is now available exclusively for NDS.

Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition allows SpongeBob fans to celebrate their creativity by drawing themselves into their very own video game. Using the unique drawing mechanic from the original Drawn to Life, players will draw the hero, power ups, costumes, and even their own Bikini Bottom home to interact with SpongeBob SquarePants’ underwater universe like never before. With more than 20 levels to explore and countless numbers of items to draw, players can literally leave their personal mark on Bikini Bottom. Gamers will be challenged to battle, erase and then re-draw their enemies as they move through the game. A two-player vs. mode will allow players to compete against each other, while built-in drawing lessons will help kids increase their artistic abilities by learning to draw SpongeBob. The special Coloring Book section of the game will also allow kids to color their favorite characters from the world of Bikini Bottom.
