With over 500 hours of gameplay and previously unreleased monsters, weapons and missions, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is set to be the biggest game of the series so far. Via Ad-Hoc functionality, players can experience the social gaming phenomenon that’s gripping Japan and adventure with up to three friends for a thrilling and savaging multiplayer hunting party. From devising the strategy to executing the attack, team play with your friends is going to be key to hunting down the ferocious beasts.

Monster Hunters can prepare for the ultimate fight with more than 2000 armour sets, 1500 weapons and 400 missions to choose and customise their characters from. Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for the PSP will be one of the first titles playable online using the new “adhocParty for the PSP system” service that launched today. Future updates to adhocParty for the PSP system will bring more Capcom multiplayer PSP titles into the online realm. adhocParty for the PSP is a service which enables PSP owners to play online multiplayer games featuring Adhoc mode over the internet through the PS3. PSP titles with Adhoc mode traditionally require users to play within close proximity to each other over Wi-Fi, but with adhocParty for the PSP, PSP owners can play anyone in the world through the PlayStation Network.

Monster Hunters who own a PSP and PS3 will be able to connect the two using adhocParty for the PSP system. Utilizing the PS3’s wireless networking and online connection, adhocParty for the PSP creates a social network gateway that will allow Monster Hunter Freedom Unite players to find each other online and adventure together in groups of four. To enable adhocParty for the PSP, each user must have both a PSP and PS3. To install, users can easily download adhocParty for the PSP free of charge from the PlayStation Store and save the application on to the PS3’s built-in hard drive. adhocParty for the PSP supports voice chat through the Wireless Headset, offering a complete and immersive gaming experience only available on the PlayStation platform.

New to Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is the fully customisable AI Felyne companion who will accompany players on quests and gather extra resources for the player. PSP owners may then share their companions with other players through ‘felyne casting’ with users transferring data through the PSP sleep mode.

Also new to Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is the improved media install option where players can save the game to a memory stick, allowing the game to load from the memory stick and UMD simultaneously for faster loading times. Fans of the series will be pleased to hear that they can transfer their data from Monster Hunter Freedom 2 over to the new game.
