Created by an experienced team of sports game developers at Ubisoft Vancouver, Academy of Champions engages players in a rich, story-driven adventure around the world's most popular sport. The journey begins with enrollment at an extraordinary Academy where your coach is the legendary Pelé and U.S. soccer champion Mia Hamm is your team member and mentor.

In Academy of Champions, players improve their skills, recruit new team members and build the best possible squad to defeat their rival Academy and win the champion cup. Compatible with the Wii Balance Board and Wii Motion Plus accessories, young soccer fans and their friends and family will enjoy playing together in a humorous, interactive universe that features over-the-top gameplay, entertaining fantastical environments, and innovative challenges.

Red Monkeys: This Brightfield team doesn’t lack confidence and nor should they. Their captain Kenway plays as well defensively as he does going forward and the balance he provides the team, makes up for their lack of pace. Technically the team is strong, does the simple things very well and they all back each other up – all things you would expect from a top team at Pele’s Academy.

Brazil Macaws: With a distinctive South American rhythm to their play, you’ll need to stay on your toes to keep up with this colourful and flamboyant outfit. Their movement and energy can make them seem a little disorganized at times, but once they get the ball to their strikers you’d better watch out, they have quite a bite.

Golden Eagles: This team is not afraid to mix it with the more aggressive sides, and when they get possession they swoop forward in great numbers. This does leave them very susceptible to the counter-attack and tends to lead to exciting end-to-end matches. They claim they’ll never change their style of play, always believing that “If you score one, we’ll score two!”

Royal Lions: Brightfield’s oldest and most respected team. They uphold the traditional football values of playing hard but fair and will not tolerate cheating of any kind. Some would argue they put too much faith in their traditions; many popular players from around the world first played for the Lions before being inexplicably dropped from the team, only their captain Logan can tell you why…

White Foxes: The only all-girl team at Brightfield has been known to use its feminine charm to distract male opposition and also draw the biggest fan support to their matches. Pele has learnt to never schedule exams at the same time as their games because so few students actually show up. He’s not too worried though, the Foxes combine great speed with incredible skill and set an excellent example to the young footballers that watch them.
