Baobab Planet is the result of a collaboration between three important Spanish companies, Grupo Intercom, Freedom Factory Studios and Aviatrix Entertainment experts in Internet development, video gaming, and audiovisual content, respectively. Grupo Intercom is one of Europe’s most important private investors in internet businesses owning more than 50 on-line businesses with incubators in Germany and Spain and employing over 600 people among its majority owned businesses. The game will reach homes worldwide thanks to an ambitious international strategy. Unlike most online games directed towards children, Baobab Planet will be available from its very beginning in five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German, with the goal of reaching more than 20 countries.
“For a project to achieve success, vision and execution are key and I think Baobab Planet shows that it knows how to combine the two perfectly. We support its ambition to reach a global market right from the start and we love the passionate work put forth by its team. For Grupo, it is without a doubt an ambitious project with great aspirations”, states Antonio González Barros, President of Grupo Intercom. Jil Van Eyle, creator of Teaming.org and current representative of External Affairs and Social Corporate Responsibility for Grupo Intercom has the same opinion: “It is important to think in the present when it comes to children and not wait until the future to contribute to their development. Baobab Planet is a necessary initiative and a good starting point for learning how to connect with them through new technologies”.
The launching of Baobab Planet seeks to transform the perception of entertainment technology by introducing the child and parent relationship to online gaming. For the first time, parents can get involved in their children’s gaming experience in an active way instead of merely managing their children´s privacy. In fact, parents will have their own tools, such as Baobab Parents, which will allow them to interact with their children through the game and propose various challenges for the child to complete.
“We know that the most natural way to reach children is through the game. Because of this, we have created Baobab Planet, a dream world where we encourage the development of children and invite their parents to actively participate in this process. On Baobab Planet, both children and their parents will have a great time”, highlights Xavier Valverde CEO of Baobab Planet.
Baobab Planet unites both the fun of a fantasy world built upon a tree with the development of skills as children complete various missions and adventures through their own avatar, all of which encourage the improvement of their cognitive, emotional, social, and learning skills. The children have the challenge of building their own house among the branches of the baobab and have to make the planet grow sustainably using resources created from the tree itself.
