Puzzle Quest 2 Locations:
The original Puzzle Quest took adventurers across the lands of Etheria, where they explored a sprawling overworld. This sequel takes players much deeper, underground that is, into the depths of a vast and deadly dungeon. Here’s a quick overview of the places you’ll go in Puzzle Quest 2.
The Town of Verloren
The town of Verloren provides the staging area for your assault on the dungeon. The key areas of the town include a chapel where you can be healed if you take trap damage, and the marketplace, where you’ll buy, sell, and upgrade your weapons and armor.
Meet Chappilekorum in the East Market of Verloren. This Dark Dwarf will forge upgrades to your weapons and armor if you collect enough of the right raw ingredients. (You’ll find wood, metal, leather, and assorted other items such as fangs, rubies and crystals, in your opponent’s loot.) It’s worth noting you should collect a fair amount of this stuff before visiting him. Along with the raw materials, you’ll also need a fair amount of gold – Chappi’s handiwork isn’t cheap. And remember; don’t waste your resources upgrading lower quality weapons and armor, when you can buy better items for similar amounts of gold without wasting your resources.
Just north of Chappilekorum’s booth, are the weapons and armor stalls. Often times you’ll find better stuff amongst the loot in the dungeon, but it’s worth taking the occasional peek as you may find a weapon or piece of armor worth purchasing. These weapon stalls are also good places to sell the extra items you find, such as class-specific items your character can’t use.
The Dungeon
Nearby the town of Verloren lies the ruins of a once great keep, built to protect the world from an unspeakable evil. Deep within this long forgotten fortress, a daemon has been kept dormant under the magic of powerful spells. The bulk of your quest will take place exploring this dungeon, and as in traditional dungeon-crawlers, the deeper you go, the tougher the enemies become.
Over the years, the upper regions of this keep became flooded, and now lie frozen in a sea of ice. The dungeon begins as a series of twisting ice caverns, and eventually gives way to stone passages and rooms. Expect to find a mix of low level enemies ranging from polar bears and wolves to more unnatural creatures.
The frozen upper level gives way to the next level, a series of rooms filled with Orcs and Goblins – not all of whom will prove to be your enemy, and some will offer you side quests. Complete the necessary tasks here, and you’ll gain entrance to the catacombs. As you might expect, the catacombs are host to a number of undead enemies such as Wraiths, Zombies, and Giant Skeletons. Beyond the catacombs, it is rumored therein lies the lost labs of the Dark Dwarves, and the realm of the Dark Elves, and the Gorgon’s lair, although no one has ever survived long enough to bring back screens- er, evidence of these areas.
Beam Me Out
Fortunately for PQ2 players, the Verloren teleport system is still actively working. Teleporting makes it easier to get back to town, and to areas of the dungeon you have already explored without time-consuming backtracking. Remember, the glowing blue circles on the ground are your friend, town shops and upgrades are just a click away.
In the tradition of the original Puzzle Quest – Puzzle Quest 2 combines an easy-to-play match-3-based puzzle system with the a compelling fantasy adventure and strategic turn-based combat found at the heart of all great role-playing games.
Puzzle Quest 2 further intensifies the puzzle-RPG blend as action points are awarded for deeper combat experience. Exploration of the dungeon-crawling variety also brings with it new puzzling mini-games when finding loot, discovering and disarming traps, breaking down doors, picking locks, and more.
Level your hero, learn new spells, acquire new deadlier weapons, better armor, and put your puzzle skills to the ultimate test against more dangerous foes as you descend deeper and deeper into this dungeon. What lies in wait? It is said “No Daemon sleeps forever...”
