by Rainier on March 29, 2011 @ 3:36 a.m. PDT

MX vs. ATV Alive will take the original franchise to exhilarating new heights with Bar-to-Bar racing, enhanced physics and the next step in downloadable content distribution.

The new Bar-to-Bar racing mechanic allows for increased physical contact between riders so players can battle for position on the track like never before, creating the most intense, realistic racing experience yet. Featuring an advanced version of the franchise's celebrated physics engine,  MX vs. ATV Alive will deliver refined terrain deformation and smooth, intuitive controls that will appeal to newcomers and hardcore fans alike. MX vs. ATV Alive will also employ an "a la carte" method of digital content distribution that allows players to pay for only what they want to play. And for the first time in the series' history,  MX vs. ATV Alive will feature a prominent motocross athlete on the cover and in a variety of in-game videos: two-time AMA Supercross Champion James Stewart.

Featuring an enhanced physics engine and the most authentic motocross racing experience to date,  MX vs. ATV Alive will be supported by an unprecedented digital content distribution strategy.

James Stewart’s personal motocross compound has been meticulously re-created and will be offered as a free digital download to consumers who buy a new copy of the game at launch. Following the release of MX vs. ATV Alive, THQ will initiate an unprecedented digital distribution plan by delivering consistent downloadable content, including branded vehicles, helmets, goggles, graphic kits, new tracks and an incredibly authentic Supercross mode.

“Working with James Stewart and the team at Red Bull who made this project possible has been an amazing experience, and we look forward to collaborating closely with them again,” said Michael Lustenberger, THQ Vice President of Global Brand Management, Online/Digital Games. “The digital replica of James Stewart’s personal playground will only be offered for free to consumers who purchase a new copy of the game at launch, so fans are encouraged to preorder their copy of MX vs. ATV Alive now.”

“Being featured on the MX vs. ATV Alive box and in the game is awesome, but helping THQ design my motocross compound and giving the fans a chance to ride where I ride is a dream come true,” said James Stewart. “My thanks go out to Red Bull and THQ for coordinating this one-of-a-kind opportunity and for making an unbelievably accurate re-creation of my training facility.”

MX vs. ATV Alive is scheduled for release for a suggested retail price of $39.99.
